Muslim Awareness Shabbat Dinner
As part of Muslim Awareness Week, Temple Emanuel Beth Shalom hosted a Vegetarian Shabbat Dinner in collaboration with The Syrian Kitchen and The Wandering Chew!
This dinner celebrated dishes from both Syrian and Jewish cultures. The dinner was sponsored by Brian Bronfman Family Foundation.
The Syrian Kitchen and The Wandering Chew are both women-led food initiatives from the Muslim and Jewish communities, both which bring awareness and education about their culture’s food traditions. The Syrian Kitchen was started by a member of one of the Syrian families sponsored by Temple. Catering this event together will bring together both cultures through the collective experience of cooking and enjoying Shabbat dinner together. Menu will be announced soon!
This dinner was part of a week of events taking place around Montreal to commemorate two years since the shooting at the Quebec City mosque. Following the meal, Amani Shakhtour and Ehab Lotayef spoke during Shabbat services.
